Terms timely diagnosis of breast cancer key factor for successful treatment Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has directed the Infrastructure Development Authority of the Punjab (IDAP) to finalize the PC-1 of the University of Child Health by next Thursday.
“We want to see this University completed as early as possible and the credit of approval of the university goes to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.”
The Health Minister gave the directives during a visit to the University of Child Health Sciences.
Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Ahmed Javed Qazi, Vice-Chancellor University of Child Health Sciences Dr Masood Sadiq, MD Children Hospital Prof Dr Saleem and faculty members were also present on the occasion.
Dr Yasmin asked the IDAP to finalize and expedite the process. Vice-Chancellor University of Child Health Sciences Prof Dr Masood Sadiq briefed the minister on different colleges and departments.
The Health Minister said, “Research on paediatrics is the need of the hour. Children Hospital continued uninterrupted treatment of children during all the four waves of the Corona Pandemic.
Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department has started school health program separately.
University of Child Health Sciences has introduced latest solar system. The Mother and Child Block at Ganga Ram will also be completed in time.”
Later, on directions from the Health Minister, Secretary SH&ME Department Ahmed Javed Qazi visited the dengue ward where children were under treatment.
He talked to children and inquired from their parents about the quality of services. The parents thanked the Secretary SH&ME and expressed satisfaction.
Meanwhile, Dr Yasmin Rashid said here on Thursday that timely diagnosis can have huge impact on the successful treatment of breast cancer.
Speaking as chief guest at Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar at Fatima Jinnah Medical University, the Health Minister said that health remains one of the greatest blessings of Almighty Allah.
Present in the seminar were Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Amir Zaman Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Medical University Prof Dr Shirin Khawar, MS Ganga Ram Hospital Dr. Athar, Professor Javed Chaudhry, faculty members and other staff.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Amir Zaman Khan welcomed the Health Minister. The Health Minister also led the walk for awareness on breast cancer.
The Health Minister said, “October is commemorated the world over to create awareness about breast cancer. Timely diagnosis can have great impact on treatment. I myself have battled cancer. Health is a great blessing and one must pray for a healthy life.
By determination, resilience and faith can one defeat cancer. Doctors are Messiahs for patients. Doctors are serving in a prophetic profession. Allah Almighty has great honor to doctors. A doctor’s good behaviour treats half the illness of a patient.
We are facilitating patients at govt hospitals. Counselling plays key role in the treatment of patients. We will develop a special Oncology Unit in Ganga Ram Mother and Child block.”
