In a flurry of political activity, 195 candidates have thrown their hats into the ring for the upcoming elections in Attock district. The battleground is set for 2 seats in the National Assembly and 5 seats in the Provincial Assembly, promising a dynamic electoral landscape.
Among the contenders, 164 candidates have received the nod of approval from various political parties. Notable players include the Muslim League (N), Pakistan People’s Party, Jamaat-e-Islami, Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam. Surprisingly, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has found itself absent from the list of approved candidates for both National and Provincial Assembly seats.
In the key constituency of NA 49 Attock I, prominent figures such as Sheikh Aftab Ahmed of Muslim League (N), Malik Muhammad Amin Aslam from Azad Umidwar, and Muhammad Anas of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam are set to compete. Meanwhile, in NA 50 Attock I, Sardar Saleem Haider of Pakistan Peoples Party and Malik Sohail Khan Kamdial of Muslim League (N) are among the leading contenders.
The political drama extends to Provincial Assembly seats as well. In PP 2 Attock II, Muhammad Shavez Khan of Muslim League (N) and Owais Islam of Jamaat-e-Islami are gearing up for a fierce competition. In PP 3 Attock III, Sheikh Nasir Mahmood from Muslim League (N) and Sardar Haider Ali Khan of Pakistan Peoples Party are set to lock horns.
In PP 4 Attock IV, former minister Ch. Hadri Sher Ali Khan of Muslim League (N) is pitted against Amanat Khan, Sardar Muhammad Wali, and others. PP 5 Attock V sees contenders like Aitbar Khan, Malik Bahadur Khan Azad.
