The FIA has arrested an international group involved in illegal liver and kidney transplants. The suspects took the patient and the donor to China for transplantation.
A joint team of FIA Lahore and Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority formed a raid team after finding solid evidence against a group involved in illegal transplantation.
On the orders of Director General Dr Murtaza Haider, Chief of Vigilance Adnan Ahmed Bhatti along with Mohammad Fahim Mirza, Mohammad Nadeem Tariq, Vigilance Inspector FIA Mohammad Bilal and Vigilance Officer Kashif Shaukat, Assistant Director Chaudhry Ijaz Nair Abbas Tirmidhi convicted the accused. Arrested from Okara.
The accused called the donors and the patient to get a passport to go to China at the Lahore Passport Office where the accused Abdul Latif, Muhammad Hanif and Abdul Jabbar were caught from Garden Town. Abdul Ghaffar, Rafaqat Ali, Zulfiqar, Usman, Amjad Ali and Yeshua Javed, who had illegally transplanted on the identification of the accused, were also arrested.
The group swindled the poor out of large sums of money and took them to China, where they bought liver and kidney from a donor for Rs 4 lakh and sold it to a patient from Pakistan for Rs 5 lakh.
