Khuda Bux Brohi Thatta
In a bid to stimulate regional development and job creation, the federal and provincial governments of Sindh have joined forces to inaugurate a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the economic landscape of Thatta district. Efforts are underway to establish a private export processing zone spanning approximately one thousand acres of land, a move that promises to invigorate industrial growth in the region.
In a high-profile meeting convened by the federal Ministry of Industries and attended by key stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, the Land Utilization Board of Revenue Sindh, Port Qasim, and the Sindh Investment Department, plans were unveiled for the establishment of a private export processing zone. This ambitious project is spearheaded by M/s Pakistan Car and Machinery Zones Private Limited.
The proposed site for the manufacturing zone, located six kilometers from the national highway in Thatta district, has been identified. However, to ensure accessibility to the designated area, it was deemed essential to construct a branch road. Discussions during the meeting clarified that the responsibility for developmental works within this vicinity would be undertaken by the Sindh government, in collaboration with the investing company.
The Sindh government has requisitioned the investing company to provide comprehensive project feasibility reports, financial projections, master plans, design layouts, geotechnical assessments, topographical surveys, and environmental impact analyses.
