Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, Chairperson of the Global Aafia Movement, has called upon the people of Karachi to come forward and send postcards to U.S. President Joe Biden in support of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s release. In her appeal, Dr. Fauzia urged the public to visit the General Post Office (GPO) in Saddar, near Regal Chowk to send postcards requesting Dr. Aafia’s return to Pakistan. She further called on political, religious, and social leaders to accompany their supporters to the GPO to show solidarity for Dr. Aafia’s cause.
Dr. Fauzia explained that Aafia’s clemency petition, numbered C 310439, has already been submitted to President Biden’s office. The petition highlights the false intelligence claims that led to Dr. Aafia’s unjust imprisonment. It urges the U.S. government to release her, as she is a Pakistani citizen wrongfully detained on baseless charges.
Dr. Fozia expressed optimism that the situation is favorable for Dr. Aafia’s release, noting that the Pakistani government has already sent a formal letter to President Biden. She emphasized the need for widespread public support to help bring this long-awaited victory to fruition. “The time for the nation to take action is now,” she said, adding that the culmination of 21 years of struggle is nearly at hand.
