The European Commission is considering a hike in fee for Schengen visa of all EU states for foreign nationals, including Pakistanis, in view of the inflation.
The commission has proposed 12.5% increase in the Schengen visa fee of different categories. If it is approved, the new fee for an adult applicant for the visa will be ninety euros (€90) as compared to previous €80.
It would definitely increase the Schenge visa cost for Pakistanis in ongoing calendar year of 2024.
The draft also proposed revision in prices for regular and minor applicants, and nationals of non-cooperating countries as they fees could be jacked up to €135 and €180 respectively.
The commission has proposed no change in fee for extension visa application as it will remain unchanged as €30.
Furthermore, the commission has proposed five euros increase in fee from €40 to €45 for child applicants.
In 2022, most of the Pakistanis applied for visa of Spain, Germany, Italy and Netherlands while most of them were rejected by the respective countries.
