LAHORE – Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IGP Nasir Durrani died on Monday due to Covid-19 in Lahore.
Durrani was on ventilator at the Mayo Hospital in Punjab capital for a week after his health condition deteriorated due to Covid-19 infection.
The 64-year-old deceased top cop was known for brining massive changes in police department while serving in KP. He hand introduced a system, allowing citizens to file complaint against police officials for their corrupt practices.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and others have expressed condolence over the demise of the former IGP.
“Saddened to learn of the passing of former IG Police Nasir Durrani. My condolences and prayers go to his family. He was instrumental in reforming KP police when he was the IG. Pakistan has lost an outstanding police officer,” the premier wrote in a tweet.
