ISLAMABAD – A network of high ranking officials have been busted for ‘facilitating’ former prime minister Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, and former Inspector General of Prisons, Shahid Saleem Baig is the latest face who was held.
Baig, who remained at key position in his career, was held by agencies at his residence. The probe has now expanded to include former Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail, Zafar, and Office Superintendent Nazim Ali Shah from the DI Jail Rawalpindi office.
The former IG prison was reportedly retired prior to the imprisonment of Imran Khan, but he is scrutinised for allegedly providing unauthorized privileges to PTI founding chief in detention.
Former Deputy Superintendent Zafar and Jail Assistant Nazim have been detained for allegedly facilitating Khan during his imprisonment.
In previous developments in case, Adiala Jail Deputy Superintendent Mohammad Akram was also held. The investigation is widening, with six more employees being questioned based on information from another former deputy superintendent, Muhammad Akram.
The probe is reportedly making several progress, revealing the extent of illegal mobile phone access given to Khan, which breaches prison regulations.
