ETPB declared news of demolition of temple in Swabi as baseless

Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) has declared the news of demolition of the temple (Mandir) in Swabi as baseless.

In fact, there is no temple or any worship place of minorities on the spot, but an ancient building of Dharamshala “temporary shelter of Hinduism” measuring 3 and half marla in a dilapidated condition located in Dargai village, 21 km away from Peshawar, which is life threat if collapse.

In compliance of the directions of Chairman Evacuee Trust Property Board, Secretary & other officers of ETP Board, visited the site located in Dist. Swabi and furnished report which reveals that there is no temple or worship place on the spot. Instead, there is an ancient building of Dharamshala, in a very dilapidated condition and can collapse at any time, endangering lives and property in the surrounding.

Moreover, principal of girls school adjacent to this building has submitted application that the building can collapse any time and cause untoward situation.

The report further provides that the news regarding demolishing of mandir are baseless. The fact is the building of Dharamsala is still there and ETP Board has decided to restore it in its original condition so that historical Heritage may be preserved.

Chairman ETP Board says that all efforts will be made to secure worship places of Minorities as these are cultural heritage.
