President Zardari welcomes new envoys, seeks strong bilateral relations with their countries
Ambassadors-designate of Romania, Somalia, Nepal, Japan, and High Commissioner-designate of Bangladesh presented their credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari during a ceremony held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday.
Ambassador-designate of Romania, Mr Dan Stoenescu; the ambassador-designate of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Sheikh Nur Mohamed Hassan; the ambassador-designate of Nepal, Ms Rita Dhital; the ambassador-designate of Japan, MrAkamatsu Shuichi; and the high commissioner-designate of Bangladesh, Mr Md. IqbalHussain Khan were in Islamabad for some time but they could not present credential as President Zardari was recuperating due to foot injury in the UAE.
However, after the president returned from the UAE and fully recovered the envoys were sent invitations by the Aiwan-e-Sadr to present their credentials and formally take charge of their respective missions.
While welcoming the envoys and holding a separate meeting with each of them, the president congratulated them on their appointments and expressed the hope that they would play their role in further strengthening bilateral relations with Pakistan in the areas of trade, economy, and culture.
Earlier, upon arrival at the Aiwan-e-Sadr the envoys were accorded guard of honour by a smartly-turned out contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
