Provincial Minister for Industries & Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal has said that only those countries have made progress which have invested in education and only those societies achieve the goal of progress in which women work shoulder to shoulder with men.
Previous rulers lifted concrete mountains and focused their attention on metro buses and train projects but unfortunately badly ignored education and health sectors. The first and foremost priority of PTI government is providing quality education and better health. New institutions of education and health are being set up across the province.
Aslam Iqbal announced development projects amounting to Rs one crore for Government Postgraduate College for Women at Samanabad. He expressed these views while addressing the 21st convocation of Government Postgraduate College for Women Samanabad. He congratulated female students and distributed gold medals and degrees among 546 successful female position holder students. He further said that major portion of Pakistan’s population consists of females which are very talented as they have made their marks in different sectors.
PTI government has focused its special attention to empower women and impart quality education to them, he maintained. Women have also been included in the cottage industry revival programme and they will be given soft loans ranging from Rs one lac to Rs four lac in order to launch their business, he stated. Government will also provide financial assistance to citizens aged more than 65 years and to special persons every month.
For attaining this objective cards are also being made. Government is also launching a mega programme amounting to Rs30 billion for the skilled youth as a startup under which skilled youth having business plan will be given soft loans ranging from Rs 30 lac to Rs 50 lac. They will also be imparted training from known institutions with regard to launching their business, he concluded.
Earlier, College Principal Dr Haleema Afridi apprised the Minister about educational activities and future programmes. VC Lahore College Women University Dr Bushra Mirza, Controller Examinations Dr Tahira Mughal, heads of different educational institutions, professors and a large number of students also participated in the ceremony.
