The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday gave a deadline of 15 days to Federal Min-ister for Railways Azam Swati to submit his reply to the show-cause notice issued to him in connection with the allegations he had levelled against the ECP. A two-member bench, headed by Member ECP Nisar Durrani, heard the case.

Assistant Counsel for Swati, on the occasion, prayed to the commission that since Barrister Ali Zafar was away from Is-lamabad, therefore the federal minister be given one month time to submit his reply.

Differing from his argument, the ECP said that one-month period was too much. “Ask your client to reply to the show-cause notice within 15 days,” ordered ECP member Durrani.—INP
