LAHORE – The deadline for submission of nomination papers for reserved seats for women and minorities set by the Election Commission of Pakistan expired on Thursday.
“No female or minority candidate nominated by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Sunni Ittehad Council,” the sources close to the development said Thursday.
After this, the ECP would rearrange seats for women and minorities after the new party positions.
The notifications for nomination would not be issued for those who fail to submit the nomination papers.
The sources said that 13 political parties were excluded from the race for reserved seats in the National Assembly. The Sunni Ittehad Council, in order to obtain reserved seats, decided to approach the Election Commission of Pakistan and prepared the final draft of the application.
“An application will be filed today,” said the sources.
On the other hand, 86 certified members of the Sunni Ittehad Council were included in the Election Commission for the National Assembly, and the certificates of inclusion for 105 members of the Punjab Assembly have been submitted to the Election Commission.
According to the sources, for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, certificates of inclusion for 85 certified members of the Sunni Ittehad Council, supported by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, have been submitted.
