ISLAMABAD- Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is all set to conduct by elections across the country on Sunday (day after tomorrow)
A total of 239 candidates have thrown their hats in the ring for the upcoming by-elections, set to fill 23 vacant seats across the national and provincial assemblies.
In the provincial landscape, 23 candidates are set to compete for empty seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, while Punjab witnesses a bustling field of 154 hopefuls.
In Sindh, Zubeir Ahmed Junijo has clinched his seat unchallenged from PS-80, while 12 candidates are vying for seats in the Balochistan Assembly.
Following the receipt of final candidate lists from returning officers by March 30th, the Election Commission will commence the printing of ballot papers for the by-elections.
Provincial election commissioners have been duly equipped with necessary electoral materials to ensure a smooth process.
The ECP also initiated robust coordination with the ministries of interior and defense, alongside provincial institutions tasked with enforcing electoral laws.
The ECP had earlier announced by-elections on April 13th for 23 seats in national and provincial assemblies.
As per the ECP’s schedule, by-elections are due for 6 seats in the National Assembly, 12 seats in the Punjab Assembly, 2 seats each in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan Assemblies, and 1 seat in the Sindh Assembly.
