The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) is going to discuss the possibilities of import of sugar and cotton from India today (Wednesday).
To meet the cotton and sugar requirements of the country, the Textile Division had decided to move summaries to the ECC to remove ban on import of both the items from India.
Economic experts favor trade normalization with India due to lesser freight charges as well as time duration for the import and export of goods; however, Indian government’s constant atrocities on innocent Kashmiris and Muslims have been hindering Pakistani governments from moving forward on this issue.
Now due to the prevailing global geo economic situation in the backlash of Coronavirus pandemic, the incumbent government removed ban on import of medicines and raw material from India in May last year.
The decision was made on ensure availability of necessary medicines to fight out Coronavirus pandemic.
Textile Division will move summaries for discussion in today’s meeting of the ECC. As per well-placed sources, with the removal of ban on import of sugar and cotton from India, trade ties between both the countries will be normalized.
According to the 21-point agenda of ECC’s meeting, newly appointed Finance Minister Hammad Azhar will chair the meeting and appropriate decision in this regard would be made.
