A petition was filed in the Election Commission on Monday for disqualification of Chief Minister Usman Bazdar over the recent matter of issuing liquor license to a private hotel.
Barrister Saeed Ahmed Zafar filed the petition in the Lahore office of the Election Commission against the Chief Minister under Article 63 of the Constitution.
The petition sought disqualification of the Chief Minister and re-election in his constituency. The petition also seeks suspension of the Chief Minister till the final decision of the Election Commission.
The petitioner contends that Usman Bazdar won the election by contesting from PP-286. After the victory, Usman Bazdar became the Chief Minister of Punjab. The petition further prayed that CM is accused of issuing liquor licenses to local hotels after recieving heavy bribe.
NAB’s probe against Chief Minister Usman Bazdar is underway, Chief Minister Usman Bazdar appeared before the NAB office on August 12 on the issue of issuing liquor licenses. The petitioner said that during the NAB investigation, two officers have also come forward as approvers.
The petitioner has requested that the Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Bazdar be declared ineligible from PP-286 and the seat of this provincial constituency be declared vacant and re-election in the same constituency P-286. Until the decision, the Election Commission should order the suspension of Chief Minister, the petitioner prayed.
