Drive against gas theft continues

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, Lahore Region’s task force in connection with anti-gas theft campaign has conducted another major operation, in the Kahna area of Lahore.

A team from the special task force (STF) raided a factory that was using a domestic gas meter for its operations. The factory was using gas worth Rs400,000 to Rs500,000 per month.

The STF team disconnected the gas connection and recovered gas meter from site. The meter has been sent to SNGPL laboratory for testing to determine if it had been tampered.

In addition to this operation, the STF teams also conducted raids in other areas of Lahore and disconnected 12 more gas connections for illegal use of gas. The STF team imposed fines of Rs1.5 million on the violators for gas theft and violation of the gas agreement.

Sui Gas Lahore Region is committed to curbing gas theft and ensuring the availability of gas to its legitimate customers, said SNGPL spokesperson.

Sui Northern Gas pipelines Limited (SNGPL) punished 12 citizens and imposed a fine Rs 34,000 on illegal use of gas.

According to officials of Task Force, the alleged outlaws were using gas illegally as they were found making commercial use of gas, offering illegal connections to others and gas theft.

The consumers who were involved in illegal activities were punished. A fine amount totaling Rs 34,000 was imposed on them.

The department urged citizens to cooperate and informed about illegal use of gas at phone number 0619220085 as secretary would be maintained.

According to Regional Manager Hussain Zafar, a special cell has been introduced to respond to complaints.

Some officers have also been deputed in the cell to ensure timely resolution of complaints.
