Dr Zia ul Qayyum lauds AIOU role in distance education

The Vice Chancellor Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Islamabad Prof Dr Zia ul Qayyum on Tuesday has said that in order to promote the standard of education at AIOU the academic system was being shifted on Learning Management System (LMS).

While addressing to the teaching staff and other officials of the regional AIOU campus here, Prof Dr Zia ul Qayyum also said that old system would also be utilized along with the new one and further added that computer centers would be set up in the areas where the facility of internet was not available. He said that AIOU was the second largest university in Asia with more than 1.4 million active current students from matriculation to doctorate levels. He added that AIOU had awarded degrees to more than 3.6 million persons who had been serving in various departments in Pakistan and abroad. Prof Dr Zia ul Qayyum said that there were 54 AIOU regional campuses all over the country.—Faisal Khawer Butt
