The organisers for the Lanka Premier League (LPL) have hired the services of Dr. Shiromi Pilapitiya as an Anti-Doping Officer for the tournament. This was revealed by Prof. Arjuna de Silva, the chairman of the medical panel of the SLC.

“The players participating in the 3rd edition of the LPL will undergo doping tests. All players are not required to undergo these tests but they will be randomly selected”, speaking exclusively over the telephone, he said.

“She is a well-experienced doctor and well-conversant with the matter”. Dr. Shiromi Pilapitiya is a Director (Testing and Education) attached with the Sri Lanka Doping Agency.

The organisers have ensured the smooth functioning of the LPL is being overseen by Prof. Arjuna de Silva and Dr. Daminda Attanayake, who is also in the LPL medical committee. They will sanction the replacements, if any, for the injured players.

There have been five different medical professionals assigned to each team to deal with the fitness and injury issues. They are :

Dr. Chathura Edirisinghe (Jaffna), Dr. Namal Wijesinghe (Dambulla), Dr. Rukmal Karunanqayaka (Galle), Dr. Nisala Sithum (Colombo) and Dr. Eranda Cabral (Kandy).
