Inaugurates infection control App at LGH, Neo Natalogy Unit at Mayo Hospital
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid on Friday congratulated the administration of General Hospital for designing the infection application, saying the staff of general Hospital continued to serve the patients during all four waves of the Corona Pandemic despite many doctors getting infected.
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid was speaking at the inauguration of the infection control app at LGH here on Friday.
Principal Ameeruddin Medical College Prof Dr Sardar Al-Fareed, MS General Hospital Dr Riaz Hafeez, Prof Dr Mohammad Moin, Prof Dr Farooq Afzal, Dr Irfan and other faculty members were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, Prof Dr Moin and Dr Amna apprised the Health Minister of the details of the app and its utility. The Health Minister also visited male and female dengue wards at the LGH. The minister enquired from patients about services being provided in the hospital.
The Health Minister said, “I greatly appreciate the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff of Lahore General Hospital for serving people. We need more innovations and IT-based solution in this
age of epidemics. The LGH is the first hospital to introduce an app on infection control. The staff will be trained on the use of the app which has been developed in English and Urdu. All developed countries use such strategies for infection control. Health and recovery of every patient is the foremost priority in government hospitals.
The app shall be used in all hospitals of Punjab. We are striving to ensure patient safety as per the guidelines of the World Health Organization. Punjab had made record hiring and promotions of doctors. Doctors are messiahs and with their good behaviour, half the treatment is provided
. This is a prophetic profession and doctors must serve humanity. We are taking good care of dengue patients in public sector hospitals. The dengue and corona situation is being monitored countrywide and worldwide.”
Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid inaugurated the Neo Natalogy Unit at Mayo Hospital here.
KMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, Prof Saqib Saeed, MS Mayo Hospital Prof Dr Mohammad Iftikhar, Dr Mampal Singh and faculty members were also present at the ceremony. The Health Minister visited Neo Natalogy Unit and reviewed facilities there. MS mayo Hospital Dr Iftikhar shared details of the facilities being given at the Unit.
The Health Minister said, “I congratulate and appreciate Vice-Chancellor, Dean, MS and other staff members for developing this state-of-the-art neo Natalogy facility at Mayo Hospital. I am also greatly thankful to the philanthropists who supported the setting up of this unit. May Allah Almighty accept their services to humanity.
Professor Dr. Iftikhar and Professor Dr. Haroon played a pivotal role in setting up of the Unit. Friends of Mayo Hospital have always supported the cause. The Unit has been established at a cost of Rs. 10 million.
Philanthropists deserve prayers as they have rendered great service. We are signatory to Sustainable Development Goals and two of the key SDG targets are to reduce Maternal Mortality and Infant Mortality.
Our these two indicators require a lot of improvement as we are ranked below our neighbours. Pakistan has made a commitment to reduce MMR and IMR. Seven Mother and Child Hospitals are being set up in Punjab.
The 650-bedded Ganga Ram Mother and Child hospital will be complete by May 2022. Other hospitals are being established at Mianwali, Attock, Rajanpur, Multan, Layyah and Bahawalnagar.”
Later, responding to queries of media, Dr Yasmin Rashid said that Mayo Hospital had been given Rs9 billion budget this year. She said the government had provided maximum budget to health sector, adding that Friends of Mayo have prepared a Master plan for the Hospital.
She said the Punjab healthcare Commission had been directed to ensure Rs90 as dengue test fee in private labs. She also said the summary on hiring of new MS has been sent to the Chief Minister office.
To a question, the Minister said that 450,000 people had been vaccinated in the last 24 hours.
She said over 70% of 40 plus population has been vaccinated and the Reach Every Door Program is being launched from Monday under which another 20 million people will be vaccinated. She urged people to make maximum use of this RED facility.
In his speech, KEMU VC Dr Khalid Masood Gondal saluted Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid and called her “teacher of teachers.” He thanked all doctors for making contribution to the setting up of Neo Natalogy Unit.
