RAWALPINDI – Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry reaffirmed Pakistan Army’s position on May 9 protests remains steadfast

Military media wing spokesperson said there will be no change in stance, which was clearly communicated in May 7 press conference. Those responsible for the riots must be held accountable.

He provided updates on national security, counter-terrorism efforts, and the Army’s activities, and highlighted that this year, security forces have conducted 23,622 intelligence-based operations, with 2,045 occurring in the last 15 days. These operations led to the elimination of 24 terrorists.

In his previous press, ISPR DG ruled out any negotiations with PTI, stating that talks could only occur if PTI offers a sincere apology and renounced anarchic politics.

PTI chief Imran Khan, who is in jail for last one year, refused to apologize for May 9 riots, claiming he was unaware of them while detained. He expressed willingness to face an inquiry into the 2014 PTI sit-in and rejected the notion of personal gain from dialogue with the establishment.
