Chief Secretary Sindh, Syed Asif Hyder Shah, has announced the establishment of a Career Counselling Wing in the Sindh College Education Department to guide students on academic and professional pathways. Each Sindh college will also receive Rs. 0.5 million to support science exhibitions, student welfare programs, and other co-curricular activities.

Presiding over a meeting of the College Education Department, attended by Secretary College Education Asif Ikram and other senior officials, the Chief Secretary reviewed ongoing projects and future initiatives aimed at modernizing Sindh’s education sector. The meeting was informed that 115 development projects are underway, with a budget of Rs. 28,749 million allocated to enhance educational infrastructure across the province.

These projects include: Construction of new colleges in underserved rural areas. Upgrading science labs in 30 colleges with Rs. 1 billion. Establishing state-of-the-art libraries in 20 institutions. Equipping colleges with IT facilities and smart classrooms, with Rs. 1.5 billion allocated. Providing five computers to each college to boost digital learning. To address the shortage of teaching staff, recommendations for appointing 1,659 lecturers who passed the Sindh Public Service Commission examination have been received.

The Chief Secretary directed the immediate issuance of offer orders to the selected candidates, ensuring improved teaching quality across Sindh’s colleges. The newly announced Career Counselling Wing will organize workshops and seminars in colleges, focusing on emerging fields and opportunities for admission to leading universities.

This initiative aims to prepare students for professional challenges and guide them toward promising careers. Highlighting the government’s commitment to fostering student talent, Syed Asif Hyder Shah emphasized the role of Rs. 0.5 million allocated to each college for organizing science exhibitions, welfare programs, and other co-curricular activities. “These initiatives will inspire creativity and intellectual growth among students,” he said.

Additional measures discussed in the meeting include: Introduction of BS programs in 43 colleges, with 17 institutions receiving university affiliation approvals. Conversion of Government College of Education, Federal B. Area, into a degree-awarding institute, with Rs. 300 million allocated.
