Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal has directed that the national anti-polio campaign starting from May 23 to May 27 be made a complete success. The directives were issued by him while presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements for the anti-polio campaign, at Civil Secretariat here on Friday. Speaking at the meeting, the Chief Secretary said: “The country must be made polio-free for the health and future of our children”.
He mentioned that for complete eradication of polio, everyone needs to continue working with national spirit.
The meeting was briefed that during the five-day campaign starting from May 23, as many as 22 million children up to the age of five years would be administered vaccine in Punjab and more than 156,000 polio workers would be deployed in 36 districts of the province. In the anti-polio drive completed in March, the coverage rate remained 101 percent as 22.2 million children were vaccinated against the target of 21.97 million. All the deputy commissioners participated in the meeting through video link.
