SYDNEY – In a surprising turn of events, the Australian cricket team has been dealt a blow with the detection of COVID-19 cases just before the much-anticipated Brisbane Test.

Cricket Australia confirmed that both Cameron Green and coach Andrew McDonald have tested positive for the virus, prompting their immediate separation from the squad in adherence to health protocols.

Despite the positive tests, Cricket Australia said that Cameron Green may still participate in the upcoming match, subject to his well-being and compliance with the stipulated protocols during the game.

In a positive development, the recent triumphant head clearance of the virus has resulted in a negative COVID-19 test for both Green and McDonald, clearing the way for their potential involvement in the crucial Test match.

It is noteworthy that the Brisbane Test between Australia and the West Indies is set to kick off on Thursday, marking the beginning of a highly anticipated cricketing encounter.
