Pakistan on Sunday reported 43 deaths in the last 24 hours by the novel Coronavirus. The number of positive cases surged to 395,185. The tally of fatalities jumped to 7,985.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center 2,829 persons tested positive for Covid-19. Sindh remained the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab has overtaken Sindh in most number of casualties.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Dr Farooq Sattar Sunday said that he has tested positive again for the novel coronavirus.
Sattar tested positive again after completion of 14 days’ of his isolation period. He was first detected coronavirus positive on November 14.
Till now 171,595 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 118,511 in Punjab, 46,877 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 17,101 in Balochistan, 29,782 in Islamabad, 6,682 in Azad Kashmir and 4,637 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Punjab has recorded 613 new Covid-19 infections, down from 738 a day earlier, taking the provincial total to 118,511. The province has also recorded 19 additional fatalities. The total number of virus deaths in the province has reached 2,979.
Sindh has reported 1,419 new cases and 13 deaths over the past 24 hours, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said. According to the statement, the province has so far reported 173,014 cases and 2,924 deaths, while 151,529 patients have recovered.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 273 new coronavirus cases and four more deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the government’s Covid-19 portal. This has taken the provincial tally of cases to 46,877 and fatalities to 1,359.
Meanwhile, Balochistan has recorded 55 new infections and one death. The province’s caseload has risen to 17,101 while total fatalities have reached 166.
