Commissioner launches plantation campaign

Commissioner Karachi & Patron Mazar-e-Quaid, Iftikhar Shallwani, while speakin, at the launch of the 7th round of Tree Plantation Drive at Quaid-e-Azam Mausoleum which is a joint venture of CAW & QMMB, said that every institution and citizen of Karachi is under obligation to make the city clean and green. Commissioner Karachi appreciated the efforts in promoting greenery and planted a tree himself.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief of the CAW, Shaukat Umari informed that an urban forest would be developed while utilizing the 16 acres land adjacent to the Mazar-e-Quaid.
He said that preparations are in process to develop the forest land. He said that we are making every possible effort to install waste water treatment plant at the Mazar-e-Quaid for promote PM’s mission of clean and green Pakistan.
A large number of citizens and civil society representatives attended the event. Notables among them were Director QMMB & Chairman HSP Fahim Siddiqi, former Commissioner Karachi Arif Elahi, PIA’s GM Shoaib Dahari, Imran Ahmed, Afshan Lalani, Shahzad Qureshi and others.
