CM Murad allocates Rs5.3b for Safe City P­roject

In a press briefing here on Friday, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah announced plans for the implementation of a Safe City project, allocating Rs5.3 billion for the installation of advanced surveillance technology in Karachi and other cities. This initiative aims to enhance security measures and combat rising street crime, reflecting the government’s proactive approach to ensuring public safety. Murad Ali Shah said that the Ramzan package, aimed at providing financial relief to over 4.4 million deserving families in the province during the holy month.

This initiative, which includes a cash grant of Rs5000 per family, underscores the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities during challenging times. Additionally, CM Shah During the briefing, Shah also addressed concerns regarding the law and order situation, expressing dissatisfaction and highlighting plans for a major reshuffle within the police department to improve security across the province. Furthermore, the CM emphasized the importance of reviewing policy decisions made by the caretaker government, underscoring the need for alignment with the current administration’s objectives. Additionally, plans were revealed to approach Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for the constitution of the National Finance Commission (NFC) and the formation of the Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) within a month. In a move to honor the legacy of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Shah called for official recognition of his martyrdom and proposed the initiation of the Nishane Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for political workers.

Lastly, the CM provided updates on ongoing criminal investigations, stating that progress has been made in the case of journalist Jan Mohammad’s murder, with five suspects arrested and efforts underway to apprehend the main accused, Sher Mohammad. Overall, the press briefing highlighted the Sindh government’s commitment to addressing key challenges, fostering community well-being, and enhancing public safety through strategic initiatives and policy reforms.
