Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif presided over maiden formal meeting of Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority and approved establishment of PERA offices, appointments, rules and regulations and other matters.
The Chief Minister directed to ensure transparency and merit for appointment and hiring purposes in PERA and directed to formulate an effective monitoring system in the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority.
The meeting approved establishment of four committees relating to Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority which include Administration Logistics Committee, Finance Committee, Legal Committee and Technical Committee.
She set a target to make Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority functional in three months. The meeting approved a number of posts for the headquarters, divisions, districts and tehsils of the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority.
Sub-divisional Enforcement Officer, Investigation Officer, Senior Sergeant and Sergeant will be appointed in every tehsil across Punjab.
The meeting also approved transfer and deputation policy of Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority staff. The chair approved appointment of a ‘Hearing Officer’ to look after matters relating to appeal at the Enforcement Station. The procurement plan and ascertainment of the powers of DG Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority, colour and branding of PERA vehicles, uniforms, caps were also approved.
A special committee will be constituted to review Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority’s operation, procedure, and regulation 2024 in the light of decisions being taken during the meeting.
