Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday condemned an attempt made by PML-N to make the institutions controversial, pledging that every conspiracy against the institutions would be fully countered.
The chief minister emphasised that no compromise would be made on the respect of the state institutions.
Respect of institutions is binding on all of us; he underscored and deplored targeting of the institutions to fulfil a specific agenda.
“It seems the anarchists are following the enemy’s agenda but these frustrated elements should mind that they can cheat the masses anymore,” the CM pointed out, adding that the PTI-led government would continue to stand with the institutions as those issuing statements against state organs have nothing to do with the country welfare.
The opposition is trying to achieve some nefarious designs but those issuing statements against the institutions would continue to face defeat, the CM concluded.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that the provincial government will construct Sorra Dam with Rs10 billion to store hill-torrents water in Koh-e-Suleman’s mountainous range for irrigation and agricultural purposes. The foundation stone of the project would be laid at the start of next year.
The chief minister chaired a meeting to review progress on the plan designed to save 51,000 acres of water. The chief secretary, SMBR, chairman P&D, finance secretary and others attended the meeting while Commissioner DG Khan Division participated through video link.
The CM directed to complete the project according to the timeline on a fast-track. He appreciated the fact that the Sorra Dam would also act as an area development project to provide job opportunities along with the availability of ample water up to Taunsa.
Similarly, the agricultural activities would be promoted along with the promotion of tourism, he added. Meanwhile, CM Usman Buzdar termed students as the lifeline of the nation and said the provision of best educational facilities to them is the prime responsibility of the govt.
In a statement, the CM stated that new universities have been established in the province as the students’ community was important to project the country’s soft image at local and international levels.
It is satisfying that Pakistani students have brought laurels home with their hard work and intellect; he added and reiterated to continue encouraging the bright students.
Meanwhile, 128km four lanes Lilla-Jhelum Road would connect GT Road with motorway while facilitating hundreds of thousands of people on daily absis besides creating job opportunities for the locals. A sum of Rs15 billion would be spent on this project.

He extended felicitations to the residents of Jhelum, PD Khan and Mandi Bahauddin over the project and pointed out that the Rs.33 billion Jalalpur irrigation project would usher in an era of development. PM Imran Khan had laid the foundation stone of this project two years ago, he continued.
1.75 lakh acres of land in the Jhelum and Khushab districts would be irrigated by this project along with the provision of clean drinking water to 26 villages, the CM appended.
He said the canal system of the Jalalpur irrigation project would be operationalised by June 2023 and added that 103 development schemes were being completed with Rs.11.23 billion to develop the Jhelum district on modern lines.
