Christian community opposes sale, purchase of minority properties

The Christian community on Tuesday announced the formation of “Save the Church Properties Movement” and also to challenge the proposed federal government legislation under which the sale, purchase of any communal property of religious minority in the country.

Addressing a press conference President Khayber Pakhtunkhwa Bishap JimmyMathew said that the National Assembly Standing Committee on Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony had approved a bill.

However, he said instead of protection to minorities properties, it allow sale and purchase and transfer of their properties and vowed to resist against this bill.

He said this is a devolve subject and the federal government could not authorize to make any legislation.

Matew also claimed that this bill is against Trust Act 1882. He also said that Peshawar High Court already gave judgment against this legislation in 2017.

On this bill, he said appeal already in Supreme Court of Pakistan while Christian Community already decided to challenge this law in Islamabad High Court and also termed it a conspiracy against their community.

Speaking on the occasion Pakistan People Party Minority Islamabad City President Rehmat Manzoor said such that Constitution of Pakistan ensure full protection of minority community and their properties.

However, some conspirators were indulged in illegal legislation which became bed omen for Pakistan in the world.

The participants appeal as well as warned that they would resist against such legislation, therefore, asked the government to avoid such legislation which create unrest among minorities in the country.
