The Punjab Home Department has finalized a comprehensive plan for suspension of cellphone service in the surroundings of processions and gatherings on 9th and 10th of Muharram.
The home department has also ordered surveillance of processions and gatherings with hidden cameras.
According to officials, the Punjab Home Department has finalised arrangements for 9th and 10th Muharram.
The officials informed that cellphone service will be suspended in the areas of processions and gatherings on 9th and 10th Muharram.
The Punjab Home Department also ordered CCTV coverage of processions and gatherings while control rooms have been set up in the offices of administrative and police officers at the provincial, divisional and district levels.
The Punjab Home Department has also ordered for close monitoring of 1,715 persons included in the Fourth Schedule during the Muharram.
The officials informed that a total of 9,487 processions and 37,631 majalis have also been allowed during Muharram across Punjab.
Out of the total, 1,297 processions and 3,694 majalis have been declared as sensitive and special security arrangements have been ordered for these gatherings. The Punjab Government has also banned hate and sectarian speeches during the holy month to ensure sectarian harmony in the province.
The home department has also ordered carrying out flag march of police force in sensitive areas while the administrative and police officials will work together to ensure peace with the help of elected representatives and Ulema.
The government has also issued special instructions for implementation of Corona SOPs during Muharram processions and majalis.
