The close-circuit television (CCTV) images of the two suspects who shot and injured Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Bilal Yaseen in Lahore last week surfaced on Monday.

The lawmaker was shot at in the Punjab capital on Friday by the assailants riding a motorcycle, and received bullet wounds on his leg and abdomen, according to the FIR registered.

Police are probing the case with an extended scope with the CCTV footage obtained from different areas. One of the footage clearly shows faces of the suspects riding the motorcycle.

In the footage, the suspects can be seen covering their faces with additional clothing, which they removed after reaching some distance from the site of the attack.

Unfortunately, a Safe City CCTV camera installed 50-metres from the site of the attack turned out to be faulty.

Meanwhile, police said images of the suspects had been sent to the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), adding they were close to nabbing the culprits.

Sources quoting police said that the incident appeared linked to a dispute related to ownership of a shop, following which shooters were hired to scare off the lawmaker.

They added that top police officials have stopped six police teams from further probing the incident as the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) is now tasked with apprehending the suspects.

Yaseen was fired upon after he visited a party worker in the Data Darbar area of the city. He was rushed to the Lahore Mayo Hospital for treatment.
