Capacity Enhancement and Automation of Yogurt Plant inaugurated at NARC

The operation of Yogurt Processing Plant is being commenced by Chairman PARC Dr. Muhmmad Azeem Khan today at NARC. At the inauguration ceremony DG NARC, Dr. Shamimul Sibtain Shah, Director Animal Sciences, Dr. Hassan Andrabi and other high officials were also present.
At the occasion Dr. Muhammad Azeem Khan expressed his views and said Yogurt is a fermented dairy product with a distinct aroma. The bacterial strains involved in yogurt formation is the key factor in aroma and taste of yogurt. PARC is working on the selection of most desirable yogurt producing strains and preparing fully nutritional yogurt at its Animal Products Improvement Program (APIP), ASI. Through this Plant we have moved from traditional to advanced mechanized system which is marked with defined culture process unlike the traditional methods.
Dr. Murtaza Hassan Andrabi while briefing about the automation of yogurt plant told “Initially the yogurt production and sale was started with the help of PATCO at small scale. Later, on the directions of worthy Chairman PARC, the yogurt production facility has been automated and up scaled to advanced level. He further remarked that the newly extended facility includes a batch pasteurizer, an automatic cup filling and sealing machine (having capacity of 1200 cups/hour) and a warm and cold room (with temperature settings ranging from 0 C to 50 C). The whole system is designed for preparation of 1200 cups in a single batch/shift. It also serves as a training facility and Entrepreneurship Model for Youth”.
