Boiler blast kills two in beverages factory

Two persons died when a boiler in a beverages producing factory here on Lahore-Multan Road on Thursday.

According to Rescue 1122 and police sources, soon after the blast, a fire erupted which engulfed the factory building.

They said that intensity of the blast also affected nearby buildings and shattered tier windowpanes.

On information, seven fire tenders of the Rescue 1122, reached the spot and extinguished the fire after three struggle.

The rescuers informed that a passerby and an employee of the factory died in the blast while a security guard of the factory received burns. He was rushed to the hospital. The process of cooling is underway.

People living in the neighbourhood gathered outside the factory and fire brigade trucks were immediately called in. Witnesses described the explosion as terrifying. “When we heard the blast, we thought a bomb exploded somewhere,” one of them said.

Meanwhile, another main, living two blocks from the factory, said that the glass of his house’s windows were left shattered.

According to Rescue 1122, the injured man sustained third-degree burns and has been moved to the hospital.

The passerby killed in the explosion has been identified as Yaseen.
In a separate such incident, three people died after the roof of a factory collapsed after a boiler explosion at a Faisalabad factory.

The incident took place at a factory situated near Samana Bridge. Twelve other labourers sustained wounds following the incident. The injured were rushed to a nearby medical facility.
