QUETTA – Terror outfit Baloch Liberation Army took responsibility for a bloodbath at a key Railway Station in Balochistan’s capital Quetta.
A suicide blast killed two dozen people and more than 60 others suffered injuries while railway infrastructure was damaged. Afghanistan-based militant organization said the attack aimed to target Pakistan Army personnel onboard the Jaffer Express passenger coach.
Quetta Police officials told media that 14 armed forces personnel were among the deceased, while toll also included civilians and six railway employees.
As per initial reports, more than 200 people were at the station at the time of blast as CCTV shared on social media show the horrifying aftermath, with injured passengers and debris scattered across the platform.
The government strongly denounced the barbaric act of terrorism. Balochistan’s CM vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. The attack comes amid rising tensions in the province, which has seen an increase in insurgent violence.
