ISLAMABAD – The government of Sindh enforced new restrictions and mandated biometric verification for all car registrations and transfers in the region of over 55million.
Sindh Excise Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon made the announcement, and this new requirement will be implemented in multiple stages to enhance transparency and combat fraud.
Under new rules, biometric verification will be necessary for new vehicle registrations. From November 1, it will also be required for purchasing vehicles. It means both buyers and sellers will need to complete biometric checks.
He emphasised that initiative aims to improve transparency within the Excise Department and address issues related to illegal vehicle transfers and fraudulent activities.
For those who are looking to register cars, it can be done by biometric verification process at NADRA e-facilitation centers or district excise offices. This step is part of broader reforms aimed at modernising the Sindh excise and taxation system, which also includes new initiatives such as vehicle registration at showrooms.
