The closing ceremony of Baitussalam Olympiad 2024 was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Governor of Sindh Kamran Tessori, who addressed the audience, expressing his delight at being part of such a credible platform. He stated, “Baitussalam needs no introduction; its work speaks for itself. It is fulfilling the mission envisioned by our forefathers when they founded this country. I urge all philanthropists to contribute to this noble cause.”
Justice Syed Muhammad Anwar of the Shariah Court, while addressing the ceremony, remarked humorously, “It feels as though Maulana Abdul Sattar has a team of supernatural beings working for him. Whenever he commits to a task saying InshaAllah, it not only gets done but often before the given time. This is the power of sincerity.” He added, “Baitussalam is not just an organization; it is a movement.”Federal Minister of Commerce, Jam Kamal, praised Baitussalam’s exemplary efforts in serving vulnerable and needy communities both locally and internationally.
He highlighted the role of Maulana Abdul Sattar in steering this mission of education and welfare with unmatched dedication and vision.During his address, Maulana Abdul Sattar, Head of Baitussalam, extended his gratitude to all guests and participants. He emphasized, “Our identity is built upon two pillars—Islam and Pakistan. We should take pride in both. All our problems can be resolved if we follow the principles set by Islam. Nations that suffer from an inferiority complex tend to fail. We want to see our youth embody the character of Islam and excel in the modern world.”
The ceremony also included the distribution of trophies, shields, and awards to students and teams who secured first and second positions in the Olympiad. The awards were presented by notable figures such as Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, Federal Minister Jam Kamal, Provincial Minister for Local Government MurtazaWahab, and world-renowned cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi.The 8th Baitussalam Olympiad, held from Thursday, November 7, to Saturday, November 16, featured a range of academic and sports competitions, engaging thousands of students from over 250 educational institutions across the country.
HuzaifaRafique, Chief Coordinator of Baitussalam, outlined the objectives and vision behind the Olympiad, initiated in 2017 by the Baitussalam Welfare Trust with the support of sponsors. This event transcends barriers of ethnicity, language, and sect, fostering unity among students from diverse backgrounds.The academic competitions included Qirat, Naat, national songs, poetry, essay writing in Urdu and English, declamation contests, Spelling Bee, General Knowledge, Math Quiz, and Science Quiz. The sports segment featured events like football, badminton, physical fitness challenges, tug of war, basketball, and more.
Separate competitions were held for junior and senior categories, ensuring inclusivity for participants of all age groups.The Olympiad has become a benchmark for promoting education and extracurricular excellence, uniting students under the shared values of learning and harmony.
