Aurangzeb highlights structural reforms at InsureImpact Conference Pakistan 2025

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb virtually addressed the InsureImpact Conference Pakistan 2025, organized by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) in Karachi. The conference, themed “Fostering Collaboration, Engagement, and Innovation – Journey to an Insured Pakistan,” brought together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, and development partners to discuss the future of Pakistan’s insurance sector.

Speaking at the event, the finance minister highlighted Pakistan’s progress toward economic stability under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He shared that during his recent meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the organization acknowledged the reform-driven approach adopted by the government. He noted that the economic policies of the past several months have strengthened Pakistan’s financial position, setting the stage for long-term growth.”Macroeconomic stability has been achieved.

Our next priority is structural reforms in taxation, energy, and financial sectors to ensure sustainable economic progress,” the minister stated. Commending SECP’s efforts in bringing collaboration among industry stakeholders, Muhammad Aurangzeb said, “It is the collaboration between SECP, business leaders, and industry stakeholders that will drive real change.

“Recognizing the insurance sector’s efforts in digital transformation, the minister noted that Pakistan’s insurance landscape is evolving in the right direction, with the integration of digital tools making processes better, faster, and more affordable. “Ultimately, everything is interconnected.

To achieve an insured Pakistan, we must focus on making services more accessible and cost-effective,” he remarked. He also highlighted the importance of adopting a forward-thinking approach, particularly in leveraging new financial assets and innovative solutions in various sectors.The minister urged industry leaders to collaborate in addressing national challenges, particularly climate change. He stressed the importance of a proactive risk mitigation approach, citing climate-related risks that require immediate attention. “Climate change is a critical issue, and we must develop risk mitigation strategies to address its growing impact. The insurance industry must expand its role beyond health coverage to other essential sectors,” he asserted.

The Federal Minister acknowledged that while the insurance sector has made progress in health-related coverage, other areas must be strengthened to ensure comprehensive protection for citizens.While discussing Pakistan’s growing population, he encouraged insurance companies to introduce innovative policies that cater to the evolving needs of the people. Furthermore, he assured the industry of the government’s full support in strengthening policy frameworks and ensuring regulatory stability.

“The federal cabinet and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif are committed to policy continuity. We encourage the private sector to take the lead in setting goals and roadmaps, while the government provides a global perspective for sustainable growth,” he added.In his closing remarks, Minister Aurangzeb commended SECP Chairman Akif Saeed, SECP Commissioner Mujtaba Ahmed Lodhi, and all participants for their dedication to fostering collaboration and innovation.

He reaffirmed SECP’s commitment to regulatory reforms, digital transformation, and stakeholder engagement to unlock Pakistan’s insurance potential.The InsureImpact Conference Pakistan 2025 served as a significant platform for discussions on the insurance ecosystem and the development of a digital insurance infrastructure.
