Dhaka:  At least 29 bodies of the members of Sheikh Hasina Wajid’s political party, the Awami League, have been found from different places, the local media reported on Wednesday.

Among the more than 29 bodies are leaders of the Awami League and their family members.

The bodies were found after Sheikh Hasina Wajid left the country.

On the other hand, the Bangladeshi newspaper claimed that the homes and business centers of the people associated with the Awami League were also vandalized and looted.

It may be mentioned here that the protests lasted for several days against the 30% quota for the children of those who fought in the 1971 war to get government jobs.

In the protests, 200 people were killed, after which the Supreme Court abolished the quota system. However, the students vowed to continue protesting and called for civil disobedience until their fellow protesters received justice.

300 Deaths in Violent Protests

After the announcement of the civil disobedience movement by students opposing the quota system, the total number of deaths in violent protests exceeded 300.

Sheikh Hasina’s rule

Sheikh Hasina Wajid remained the longest-serving Prime Minister of the country as a result of her 16-year rule.

She was elected Prime Minister for the fourth time this year. Sheikh Hasina Wajid has been accused of taking actions against political opponents, and recently her government banned the Bangladeshi Jamaat-e-Islami.

According to the media reports, Sheikh Hasina Wajid, who went to India, has been given residence at a safe secret place in India.

It is speculated that she will stay in India until she gets political asylum anywhere.

Meanwhile, Indian media claimed that the US  canceled Sheikh Hasina Wajid’s visa.
