A truck carrying sacrificial goats for EidulAdha was hijacked by armed robbers near Kamran Chowrangi late Tuesday night. Merchant Rehan reported that four robbers, riding two motorcycles, took the truck driver hostage. The driver was transporting the goats from Hyderabad to Karachi for EidulAdha. The stolen goats are valued at Rs1.5 million.
Besides taking the truck, the robbers also seized the driver’s mobile phone and cash before fleeing the scene. Rehan claimed that when he went to the Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station to report the incident, he was asked to return in the morning as the station head officer was unavailable. EidulAdha, known as the Feast of Sacrifice, will be celebrated in Pakistan on June 17 following the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon on June 7. This festival commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.
