The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), calling it a cruel joke with the struggling Kashmiri people.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement in Srinagar called the visit a cheap gimmick aimed at deceiving the international community about the dire situation in the territory.

The APHC rejected Modi’s announcements of new roads and development projects as attempts to hoodwink the Kashmiri people, reiterating that their primary demand is the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

The APHC spokesman highlighted the ongoing human rights abuses in the territory, including fake encounters, extrajudicial killings, torture, arrests and humiliation by Indian troops.

He emphasized that the unresolved Kashmir dispute poses a significant threat to peace and stability in South Asia.

The APHC affirmed that India’s continued oppression will only strengthen the Kashmiri people’s resolve to fight for their freedom, predicting that Kashmiris will ultimately emerge victorious and India’s defeat is inevitable.

A strike has gripped Srinagar and other parts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the strike call was given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference. Yesterday evening, Modi arrived in Srinagar and today participated in a yoga event at the Kashmir International Convention Centre on the banks of Dal Lake. Responding to the strike call, the Kashmiris today closed their shops to express their rejection to Modi’s visit and his anti-Kashmir agenda.

Srinagar wore a deserted look, while Indian forces’ personnel arrested at least 300 youths during last over one week in various crackdown operations to prevent any anti-India protest in the territory.

Meanwhile, strict restrictions remained in place in Srinagar and surrounding areas in the name of security on the occasion of Modi’s visit to the city. The city is resembling a military fortress with thousands of Indian forces’ personnel been deployed, and surveillance devices such as drones and CCTV cameras installed.—KMS
