In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP has reiterated the demand for restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and also sought early Assembly polls to ensure justice to the people of the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the party leader, Taranjit Singh Tony in a statement issued in Jammu said people in the territory are suffering a lot as the bureaucratic set-up has totally failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people. He said that degradation of IIOJK into union territories has given a setback to the people and it is necessary to once again infuse confidence in the people by restoring its statehood.

It is necessary that IIOJK gets back statehood prior to elections because the change in status has brought despair and desolation among the populace, which is unwarranted and should not be the case, Tony said.

Meanwhile, AAP Vice President, Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency, Rajesh Gupta addressing a party meeting in Jammu demanded restoration of statehood to J&K before Assembly elections.

“J&K economy suffered the worst and developments came to a standstill here after the abrogation of Article 370 but the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continued with coercive apparatus to silence those who raise voice for justice,” he claimed adding that every section of the society is now suffering.

The AAP leader also said youth are on roads, border dwellers and traders, including shopkeepers and businessmen, are bearing the brunt of apathetic and callous attitude of bureaucracy which is ruling the roost in the absence of the elected government.—KMS
