MCI expedites ‘Clean & Green Islamabad’ campaign ahead of Eid

Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad (MCI) has expedited its efforts to keep the federal capital clean and green ahead of Eid and in this regard, tons of garbage was removed from urban and rural areas of the federal cabinet with the help of heavy machinery and the sanitation staff.
Deputy Mayor of Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation Syed Zeshan Naqvi personally monitored the drive and while interacting with the media on the occasion dismissed the impression that MCI was inactive or doing nothing for the uplift of the city.
“We are doing 24-hour duty in the holy month of Ramazan and despite the fact coronavirus has paralyzed normal life, our staff continued to make the city beautiful risking their own lives,” said Naqvi.
MCI’s sanitation staff is active all the year and they have enhanced their efforts particularly at this time of the year. “MCI workers are our real heroes as they continue to work in these difficult times risking their lives and that of their near and dear ones,” said Naqvi.
Since Eid is less than a week away and the Supreme Court has also ordered resumption of business activities we have decided to make extra efforts to keep the city in good shape, clean its streets and alleys and maintain its green outlook for the visitors as well as families who want to spend a day out during Eid holidays, said Naqvi.
Federal Capital is returning to life and activities after almost two months though still there is a risk of virus’ outspread and authorities have cautioned people against taking coronavirus lightly.
Zeshan Naqvi said arrangements were being made to make people aware of the coronavirus guidelines and sensitize them to maintain social distancing and regularly wash their hands and wear masks while going out of their houses.
MCI’s elected leadership is custodian of the trust people of Islamabad have reposed in them and we shall uphold our voters’ trust come what may, he said.
