All Karachi tajir convention held under Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi at Idara Noor-e-Haq has announced resumption commercial activity from May 11. Representatives of traders’ associations warned Sindh government would be responsible if administration interfere their legal right. Addressing the convention, JI Karachi Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said under a single agenda all traders were of the view that economic activity should be started in order to save trading and daily wager community from complete economic disaster. The Sindh government was not taking this issue seriously which has massive economic and employment consequence, he remarked. The only way out to make trade activity successful is to follow necessary Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). A determined traders and customers behaviour besides assistance from government can assure resumption of economic activity, he said. The government in this direction should provide accessible and applicable SOPs to traders, he advised. He informed in Karachi around 180,000 shopkeepers with another nearly 7 million direct and indirect employments is engaged in different businesses. Deputy Secretary Karachi, Abdul Razzaq Khan said that efforts of Sindh government have become exposed in 45-day lockdown. We are with traders and take every step to save them from economic woes, he said. President Small Trader Organizations and Cottage Industry, Mahmood Hamid said after announcement of Prime Minister, we would open our businesses. Sindh government is still in between two minds in this direction, he said. Javed Shams of Anjuman Tajiraan-e-Sindh said lockdown has pushed traders into financial crunch and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah should pay heed to us.
