Chairman of Pakistan Southern Africa Trade Federation (PSATF), Muhammed Rafiq Memon has said that there are excellent opportunities for introducing Pakistani products to Africa’s population of over 1 billion and a market worth approximately $800 billion, which can help Pakistan to achieve its export target of $50 billion for Africa by 2030.
In the current scenario, it is crucial for Pakistan to focus more on Africa to earn valuable foreign exchange and stabilize the national economy. The PSATF will fully cooperate with the Government of Pakistan to achieve this goal.
Meetings held with SIFC, Ministry of Commerce, Board of Investment, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, and other relevant departments and organizations have been highly productive and result-oriented. Significant progress is expected soon, and steps will be taken to expand Pak-Africa relations at both the diplomatic and business levels.
He expressed these views during a press conference in Karachi at the conclusion of his visit to Pakistan. On this occasion, Zaki Ahmed Sharif, President of PSATF Pakistan Chapter, and Rashid Siddiqui, President of Sindh Region, were also present.
Mohammad Rafiq Memon mentioned that 65% of Africa’s trade is currently taking place in 20 Southern and East African countries. Africa’s total imports amount to around $1.3 trillion, with 65% of this, approximately $800 billion, coming from these regions.
He highlighted that Pakistan’s food products, sports goods, and surgical products are popular worldwide, and many countries, including those in Africa, are eager to trade with Pakistan.
