ISLAMABAD – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday called on President Asif Zardari at the Presidency in Islamabad.
Army Chief extended felicitations to the President on his appointment as Commander in Chief of Armed Forces and conveyed his sincere wishes for a successful tenure.
The top general apprised President Zardari about the ongoing operations of the Army against terrorism and highlighted the operational preparedness against conventional threats.
During the meeting, Gen Asim shared views about the contributions of the Army towards development initiatives, particularly in the regions of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

President acknowledged the exemplary role of the Armed Forces of Pakistan, affirming that the Army’s contributions have been instrumental in safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state.
He further heaped praise on Army for social uplift of the affected areas, underscoring the unwavering commitment of the Pakistan Army to national progress.
President reaffirmed nation’s strong commitment to fight terrorism and said country would respond vigorously using all available national resources. He expressed concern over baseless accusations made by a particular political party and its members against the institution and its leaders for personal gain, promising to address such disruptive elements firmly.
President also praised the sacrifices of martyrs, saying their blood would always symbolize the resilience and strength of Pakistan. He reiterated the nation’s unwavering commitment to honoring the sacrifices of these martyrs and their families. The meeting ended with a call for unity and determination to uphold the values of peace, security, and progress in Pakistan.
