Judicial magistrate in Karachi has granted custody of two missing siblings, Ayaan and Anabiya, to their aunt following their mysterious disappearance from the North Nazimabad area. The siblings, who were located after being reported missing, were brought before the court by the police in response to a custody case filed by their father.
During the proceedings, the investigating officer revealed disturbing details, stating that Ayaan and Anabiya had disclosed instances of physical abuse allegedly inflicted by their aunt and maternal grandmother, prompting them to flee their home. According to the investigation, the children confided in a compassionate individual who encountered them late at night and expressed a desire to be taken to the Edhi Home. Instead, the man took them to his residence, and the following day, he escorted them to a mall in Hyderi after informing their mother about their whereabouts.
The father’s legal representative shed light on the family dynamics, explaining that the father had been unaware of the mother’s absence for two years and had been prevented from seeing his children.
He urged the court to hold the aunt and uncle accountable for their actions while seeking custody of the children on behalf of his client. The court’s decision to grant custody to the aunt reflects a cautious approach to safeguarding the well-being of the siblings amidst ongoing investigations into their disappearance.
