Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman on Saturday said that the promotion of higher education and research was key to development stressing to pay special attention on research.
This was stated by him while talking to a high-level delegation comprising esteemed American academics and faculty members of Kinnaird College, led by Principal Kinnaird College, Professor Dr. Rukhsana David which called on him at at Governor House Lahore.
During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on fostering cooperation, research and innovation in the field of education under the Pakistan-US exchange program.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Balighur Rehman said that US cooperation in the development of the education sector like other sectors was commendable. He further said that the Pakistani government appreciates the US cooperation in providing higher education opportunities to Pakistani students through various scholarships and exchange programmes including Fulbright. The Governor Punjab said that exchanges in the education sector under the US exchange programme will strengthen people to people contacts between the two countries. He further said that Kinnaird College was a prestigious, historic educational institution. American academics Prof. Dr. Amy, Prof. Dr. Glen Bodish, Prof. Dr. Janis, Prof. Dr. Paul Edelman, Prof. Farah Habib, Prof. Shelly, Prof. Stacey Prof. Jennifer, Vice Principal Kinnaird College Dr. Ghazala Yaqoob, faculty members Zubadah Zia, Maha Jameel and the Global Youth Ambassador for the United Nations Rizwan Anwar were present in the meeting.
