Daniil Medvedev cashed in on his purple patch to win the Dubai Open title for this third crown on hard courts on the trot.
World no7 outclassed his compatriot and defending champion Andrey Rublev 6-2,6-2 in a match that lasted just over an hour.
Medvedev, who had not dropped a single set in the competition coming into the contest, showcased the same tenacity which helped him down Novak Djokovic in the semis to afford not room for his childhood friend.
The Russian broke Rublev in the very first game to signal the one-way traffic that was to come. The 27-year-old also did not face a single breakpoint of his own throughout the match but broke Rublev twice in each.
On top of all that, Medvedev sent down nine aces to bailout himself out of what little troubling moments Rublev could conjure up.
The win takes Medvedev’s win streak to 14 matches, the second-longest of his career.
The Dubai Open title is the 19th for Daniil Medvedev overall in his ATP career and the third straight. Medvedev defeated Andy Murray to win the Qatar Open last week after rallying past Jannik Sinner in the final of the Rotterdam Open the week before.
He will now take part in the U.S. swing beginning with Indian Wells, hoping to add to his trophy collection.
