In a bid to deal with the PTI’s Azadi March and maintain the law and order situation in the country, the federal government has decided to deploy the army in Islamabad’s Red Zone while the Punjab and Sindh governments have imposed Section 144, it emerged Tuesday.

The decision to ensure the safety and security of the masses came after a policeman lost his life during a raid at a PTI leader’s residence.

Constable Kamal Ahmad embraced martyrdom in Lahore’s Model Town last night after an unidentified Ahmad who was gunned down Monday night during a police raid in Lahore’s Model Town.

Rana said the federal cabinet had decided not to let the PTI go ahead with its long march in order to avoid the spread of “fitna” and “fasad”. He declared the long march “undemocratic”.

PPP leader and Adviser to the PM on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan, Qamar Zaman Kaira said Imran Khan was changing his stance frequently. We fail to understand what he really wants. Branding the entire opposition as traitors reflects he has no belief in democracy.

Kaira also criticized President Dr Arif Alvi for playing the role of a worker of PTI. Most of our current crises would not have appeared had President Alvi acted as the constitutional head of the state. His role is quite deplorable, said Kaira.

Maulana Asadur Rehman of JUI-F said the JUI-F believed in democracy and ouster of the former Prime Minister was in line with the democratic and constitutional provision i.e.

Vote of No-Confidence. We have made sacrifices for the country and those who are calling us the American stooges should see their own credentials, he said.

Sanaullah claimed that the PTI leadership had disappeared and had gathered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) leaving their workers at the mercy of police and law enforcing agencies. He claimed that they were using the KP resources and personnel to “come and attack the federation”.

The interior minister said Imran Khan wanted to divide the nation. “Imran Khan has directed his party members during rallies to call people from other parties robbers and traitors. This is how he wants to spread chaos and disorder,” said Rana Sanaullah.

“Everybody has the right of freedom of expression and peaceful protest; however, the PTI did not want a peaceful protest,” he said, adding that if they hadn’t called it a “bloody march”, the government wouldn’t have stopped them.

He vowed to protect the lives and properties of the people “at all costs” and claimed that the situation would be normalized by 10pm Wednesday (today).

Addressing a press conference shortly after Sanaullah, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said the government had decided that there would be no compromise on the writ of the government.

She assured the people that the government would protect them against those who wanted to spread anarchy.

She lashed out at the PTI for not condemning the killing of Constable Kamal Ahmad. She also played visuals from the PTI’s 2014 sit-in, saying that it had turned violent even though Imran had promised it would be peaceful.

She asked why the PTI was holding the long march in the first place when it was responsible for the country’s current economic crisis.
